As the cornerstone of my artistic process, I use my work to release fears, this time choosing to paint at an abandoned quarry in Laoshan Mountain. On the one hand, there was the overwhelming presence of sewage and trash, revealing man’s interference with nature. The endless mountain cliffs, the noisy cries of birds and insects, and the uncontrollable growth of vegetation showed nature’s unlimited life force on the other hand. The ‘Lord of the Mountain’ is a symbol of mankind’s fear of nature; it is also the link between Man and Mountain. I put myself at the intersection of the natural and the man-made, amid an uncontrollable and unpredictable space, to release my fears in the form of ink on rock. Thus, creating a further interference of and communication between Man with Mountain.
