​Over the last two years, Oscar Chan Yik Long has been reconciling with his demons through art practice. For his project at Things that can happen, Oscar pushes himself out of his comfort zone, delving deeper into the relationship between the external world and the darkness within all of us, and the continuous psychological creation of one through the other. 

Following his residency in February, for 18 days from 29 April to 16 May, Oscar seals himself into the galleries of the space, daily habits fitting into the corners of the rooms, cutting himself off from our mediatised world, and engages with the energies, shadows and voices that the site compels. As an obsessive observer of his internal state, the oppressive confines of Things that can happen may call new demons to surface only to make way for a new experience of himself, the world and Things that can happen. By the end of 18 days, a simple “rite of passage” will be held, to mark Oscar’s return to the world outside. What he leaves behind in the space will be on show till 4 June. 

Soliquid is a substance hovering between the semi-solid and the semi-liquid. By giving up all conscious effort in self-preservation, Oscar free falls into the ambivalent state of in-betweeness, that of the soliquid.

這兩年來，陳翊朗一直嘗試透過藝術，跟自己的惡魔打交道。於咩事的駐場及展覧計劃中，他脫離向來的舒適圈並深入外界跟我們內在黑暗這兩者之間的地域，發掘兩者的相互建構依存。

延續陳翊朗二月份的駐場，從4月29日至5月16日的整整18天，他將會把自己囚禁於咩事的空間裡，把自己的日常習性融和於空間的各個角落並跟充斥着媒體的外界切割，跟空間裡特殊的能量、陰影與聲音交談。作為一個沉溺於自己內在的觀察者，抑壓的空間或會召喚出新的惡魔，成就一種對自身、世界及咩事藝術空間的新體驗。18日後，將舉行一個簡單的「出關」儀式以見證陳翊朗閉關的結束及重回外界。他於空間遺留下來的裝置將繼續展出至6月4日。

Soliquid 是一種介乎半固體和半液體的物質，也是當陳翊朗放下自我保護意識、任由自己於那處於物與物之間無明顯界線的曖昧空間中游離的狀態。
