The title of the work ‘Awful things happen in every apartment house’, comes from a line in the movie Rosemary’s Baby from 1968. I converted two day-to-day objects by covering them with floral patterns, and subtly depicted some horrifying and ghost-like imageries in-between those patterns. Rosemary’s Baby was filmed in beautiful and pleasing colours and decorations, but beneath this surface the movie is talking about psychological fear and demonic horror. The artwork is like a self-portrait depicting the fear I am always carrying with me, but at the same time being well covered by my pronounced and floral way of dressing.
